Our courses in Public Services explore the unique roles and duties of the uniformed and military services, and the criminal justice sector. From preparing to tour with military units across the world to examining evidence in a court of law, our courses will give you a real insight into your future career.
You’ll learn to expect the unexpected and prepare for the challenges of a career in the uniformed services.
With a variety of outdoor activities, you’ll develop personal confidence, push your fitness and achieve more than you thought possible, while preparing you for the physical assessment necessary to enter the services. You will plan and undertake an expedition, developing your leadership skills and learning how to work in a team. You will also learn about the social and political contexts of the work done by the public services. And with a range of exciting trips, you’ll build your understanding of the real work of the public services. Past trips have included the Bear Grylls Experience, Ninja Warrior Studios, visits to the Shepton Mallet Prisons, observing cases at Salisbury Magistrates, full-kit riot training with the Bristol Police Force, and taking the entry test with the Royal Navy.
You don’t have to go to Sixth Form, which I think is what people believe. I feel proud to say I’m in my dream role, achieving it through college.
Level 3 Public Services
The course gave me more confidence in myself and it taught me many life lessons. I would happily recommend it to anyone.
Such an amazing course. I have had so many opportunities that I wouldn't have had previously. I have worked on fears and pushed myself to the limit, and I highly recommend the course.
Level 3 Public Services
Doing this course was honestly the best choice I have made as it has opened my eyes to many potential job opportunities, with some amazing trips such as Snowdonia and work experience with the Army.
I would highly recommend Public Services if you are interested in a career within any of the uniformed services.
Level 2 Public Services
I spent 29 years in the Royal Air Force. During this time, I did many worldwide deployments including Falklands, Sierra Leonne, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. After leaving the military, I spent two years doing contract work in support of NATO as a Training Manager, and spent time in Dubai working as a Learning & Development Manager for the Emirates Group. I received my PGCE from the University of Bedfordshire, and I’m currently working towards a Master’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Psychology.
