Lackham Lambing Weekends to return at College this spring

Lackham

Family-fun lambing weekends will return to Wiltshire College & University Centre's Lackham campus this spring.

Wiltshire College & University Centre is delighted to announce its popular Lackham Lambing Weekends will return in 2022.

After two years of being unable to hold these fantastic family-fun weekends, the College is thrilled they will be back open to the public this year.

The events have proved hugely popular in the past and more than 10,000 people attended across two weekends the last time they were held in 2019, where around 1,200 new lambs were born.

The College will be holding events across the final two weekends in March: Saturday 19th March, Sunday 20th March, Saturday 26th March and Sunday 27th March. All events run from 10am-4pm, with last entry and 2.30pm.

Please join us at our Lackham campus for a day of Spring fun – perfect for all the family.

Attendees will get to see new-born lambs, watch the dairy herd being milked – with all milk being supplied to a famous chocolate manufacturer – and visit the calves, cows, pigs and donkeys at the campus’ farms.

Phil Steans, Farm and Estate Manager at the College’s Lackham campus, said: “Everyone at the College is delighted that we will be able to hold our fantastic Lambing Weekends at our Lackham campus again this year.

“We know how popular the events are, so we extremely disappointed that we were unable to hold them over the previous two years.

“We started these events back in 1994 and people absolutely love them. They really are a great day out for all the family and we will have a range of exciting activities going on across all four dates, so please join us if you can.”

This year’s event is the first to be held at Lackham since more than £9million worth of development work was completed at the site in 2021.

Other activities taking place across the two weekends will include a mini farmers’ market, including meat from the Lackham Estate, a variety of food and beverage stalls, visits to the site’s new robotic dairy, tractor and trailer rides and a range of children’s activities.

It is advised to book early and tickets are on sale now. Tickets must be booked in advance and there will be no tickets available to purchase on the gate. Tickets are valid for the day of purchase only.

Tickets are priced at £7 for adults (over 16), £5 for children (3 and over) and £22 for a family ticket (maximum 6 people). Children under the age of 2 can enter for free. Only Guide Dogs and Assistance Dogs are allowed on site.
