College re-opens to students for start of new term

All

Wiltshire College & University Centre staff were excited to welcome in students for the first day of term.

The College closed its doors in March in line with government guidance, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and moved all its teaching and learning online.

Since that time, much work has been going on behind the scenes to prepare the five campuses for reopening.

Throughout this week, the College is looking forward to welcoming both new and returning students as life slowly returns to a ‘new normal’, with the first students coming into College today (Monday 7th September).

Principal Amanda Burnside said: “We saw many hundreds of students across Wiltshire starting college today and it has gone very smoothly with students settling in well.

“All students were informed prior to their coming in about our Covid-19 arrangements and expectations and all of them undergo a full Health and Safety briefing session in their first lesson.”

One-way systems have been implemented at each campus to support social distancing, and classrooms have been refigured to ensure social distancing with screens also being introduced in certain areas.

Cleaning regimes have been increased, windows and doors and are being kept open and there is access to hand sanitiser and hand washing facilities throughout teaching areas.

If you, or anyone you know hasn’t enrolled on a course but would like to join us, call 01225 350035 or drop into campus to speak to our admissions team.
