Two successful graduates from the BA (Hons) Film Production and Cinematography course returned to Wiltshire College & University Centre to pass on industry advice.

Two successful film graduates returned to Wiltshire College & University Centre recently to pass on their industry advice to the current cohort.

Will Stone and Adam Pickford completed the BA (Hons) Film Production and Cinematography degree course, which is run in partnership with Bournemouth University, at WCUC’s Salisbury campus in 2017.

As part of their third-year project for the course, they made their short film called ‘The Fence’, with Will writing and directing and Adam serving as cinematographer.

After completing the course, they put the finished film on YouTube. Thanks to a considerable promotional effort on their part, it has had over 4.7 million views and thousands of positive comments.

That year, Adam also finished as runner-up in the nationally recognised Bill Vinten GTC University Awards for his camerawork.

Three years ago, the duo raised funding to turn the short film into a feature length film, which was then shot over six weeks in and around Bristol during the summer of 2021.

The completed film was released in cinemas in 2022, initially in Bristol and then further around the country. It has received great reviews, with high ratings on IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes. The Fence is now available on Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Sky and other streaming services.

Will and Adam were kind enough to come in to talk to current degree-level film students about their careers since graduating, and to workshop with them – Will on directing and working with actors, Adam on lighting and cinematography.

Thank-you both very much for visiting. All the students learned a great deal from you both.
