Lackham

Lackham’s Land Based Engineering students enjoyed an online meeting with Charles Nicklin CEng MIAgrE MIMechE, CEO of The Institution of Agricultural Engineers (IAgrE).

During the online meeting, Charles introduced himself and his background to students, as well as discussing his progression within the industry. After 24 years with JCB in design and manufacture, he was recently appointed as CEO of IAgrE.

IAgrE is the professional body for engineers, scientists, technologists and managers in agricultural and allied land-based industries.

Growing up on a farm, from an early age Charles had a fascination with all things mechanical. And now as a Chartered Engineer, his passion for Agricultural Engineering is clear to see.

The students, who are learning about all aspect of agricultural engineering, thoroughly enjoyed the session and, inspired by his passion for the industry, are now in the process of becoming student members of IAgrE.

Student membership is for those undertaking courses in relevant technical subjects within the European Union and comes with a range of benefits, including support from IAgrE during studies and a head start in becoming professionally qualified.

Employers recognise the value of IAgrE membership and the independent verification of education, training and experience that it provides, which offers our students a great start to their careers on the completion of their studies.
