Course Overview
This is a bridging course designed for learners who have not achieved the grades they expected to gain direct access to a Level 1 or Level 2 course. It may also be suitable for learners who need a gradual introduction to college life.
What will I learn?
During this course you will gain work-related and vocational skills in an area of youir choice as well as develop personal, social skills and employability. Options include:

Health & Social Care
Creative Media (not exhaustive)

Entry Requirements
We will expect you to have GCSEs in English and maths at Grades 2 or 3. We will also need to see any other qualifications you have achieved during your previous education.
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
Your studies and assessment will be within the framework of a flexible accredited Progression qualification at Entry 3 or Level 1. Although we will individualise the programme according to your needs, sample units may include:

Young People, Law and Order
Developing Skills for a Healthy Lifestyle
Study Skills
Enterprise project
Subject-specific vocational skills
You will also study English and maths at a level that is right for you. We will agree which level is appropriate following an assessment, which you can either take at interview or when your course begins. The qualification will be GCSE or Functional Skills.
Additional Costs and Information
Your course is likely to include trips to tourist attractions and community facilities which will require a contribution to the cost.
In addition, some work experience options may need special safety equipment or uniforms. You can apply for financial help from the College, if this cost is going to be a challenge.
