Course Overview

This fun one day course is ideal for you if enjoy being creative. In this fun workshop you will learn everything from the history of linocuts and famous artists who created them, to safe and effective ways of cutting the lino and how to mix printing inks to achieve exciting colour blends.

What will I learn?

On completion you should be able to recognise key methods in linocuts, work safely in the print studio, successfully cut a lino block, use a range of techniques, tools and materials to print your lino and evaluate your outcomes.

The following topics will be covered in this course: Health and safety in the workshop, examples of linocuts, design processes, tools and techniques for lino-cutting and printing processes.

Study, Assessment and Qualifications

Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken regularly with you by the course lecturer. There are no final qualifications associated with this course.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements associated with this course.

Additional Costs and Information

You should bring with you a sketchbook, pencils, a range of visual images as inspiration for your linocut, printouts of internet research on linocuts, a packed lunch and small change for tea/coffee.

Please note that there is no parking at the Methuen Centre. The closest car park is in the High Street, adjacent to The Methuen Arms where there is a charge for parking.
