Course Overview

What will I learn?
The course covers the following units:
Working Safely
Maintenance of Chainsaw and Cutting System, including Operational Checks
Health and Safety Legislation and Industry Good Practice
Cross-cutting Timber Using a Chainsaw
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. The minimum age for attendance on this course is 16 years.
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
Assessment will be by observations of practical skills and question and answer sessions to determine underpinning knowledge and understanding. It lasts 2.5 - 3 hours and is aimed to be carried within 7 days of the training, subject to assessor availability.
Additional Costs and Information
You will need to bring the following items of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the training and assessment:
Chainsaw protection trousers
Chainsaw protection boots
Chainsaw protection gloves
Chainsaw safety helmet (in date)
These must comply with current BS EN Standards. Please contact us if this is not available to you.
The purpose of the NPTC assessment is to prove occupational competence; further charges apply if re-assessment is required.
You are required to provide steel toe-capped safety boots and suitable outdoor clothing. A passport photograph is required at the start of the course for NPTC registration purposes.
