Course Overview

This course is designed for students who have already completed a Level 2 motor vehicle or motorsport qualification. You will be taught how to safely diagnose and rectify faults within the automotive sector, with roughly half of your time taken up with practical work and half with theory in the classroom.

What will I learn?

You will develop skills and knowledge in a wide range of topics by studying the following units:

• Skills in health, safety and good housekeeping in the automotive environment
• Support for job roles in the automotive environment
• Materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices used in the automotive environment
• Diagnosing and rectifying vehicle auxiliary electrical faults
• Diagnosing and rectifying light vehicle engine faults
• Rectification of light vehicle transmission and driveline faults

Study, Assessment and Qualifications

You will be independently assessed after studying each unit via online testing. These tests are marked electronically by the Institute of Motor industries (IMI).

Entry Requirements

• Level 2 equivalent course.
• English and maths GCSE at grade 4 (C) or Functional Skills Level 2.
