Course Overview


In order to start and complete this course, the learner must be employed and working in a Mechanical manufacturing role. Examples of a suitable work role include Skilled Machinist (Turning, Milling or Grinding), Toolmaker, Metal Forger, Skilled Sheet Metal Worker, Skilled Fitter Assembly (Mechanical or Electrical/Electronics) and Composite Technician.The NVQ Level 3 is delivered entirely at the learners’ place of work. A College engineering assessor works in partnership with the learners’ employer to ensure that the appropriate types of work can be used to prove the learners’ knowledge and practical skill. Evidence is collected in the form of a paper-based portfolio.


What will I learn?


Working towards and attaining this NVQ3 qualification will challenge and stretch a learners’ existing theoretical and practical skills. It is also an ideal qualification to consolidate or obtain formal accreditation for existing knowledge and skills.

Entry Requirements


There are no entry requirements in the way of English or Maths. The learner however MUST be employed and working in a role that will give opportunity to prove their competence in mechanical manufacture.

Study, Assessment and Qualifications


The NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Mechanical Manufacture is made up of mandatory and optional units. The College engineering assessors work in partnership with the employer, planning and assessing relevant practical activities.

The learner attains the NVQ Level 3 qualification by collecting and presenting evidence in the form of a portfolio?that is then assessed.

Additional Costs and Information


Although delivered entirely at the learners’ place of work. The learner should expect to work in their own time to complete some of the qualification.
