As a Engineering technician, you will work in a wide range of companies, including, chemical, primary and secondary pharmaceutical, biotechnology, formulated products and nuclear manufacturing where you will operate the systems and equipment involved in the production of products.Many companies operate under highly regulated conditions and a premium is placed on appropriate attitudes and behaviours to ensure employees comply with organisational safety and regulatory requirements.This new Level 3 Engineering Technician Standard replaces a number of the old SASE Advanced Apprenticeship Frameworks in Engineering and at Wiltshire College, you will be opffered the following pathways:Machinist - Advanced Manufacturing Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Product Design; Development Technician Toolmaker; Tool/Die Maintenance Technician Technical Support Technician
What will I learn?
On competion you will be able to perform the following activities and functions:
Work both individually and as part of a manufacturing team with minimum supervision, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the work you undertake whilst proactively finding solutions to problems and identifying areas for improving in your work environment
Start-up, shut down and complete a run of the manufacturing batch or continuous process in line with the appropriate Standard Operating Procedures
Work safely in a science manufacturing environment, understanding personal responsibility for Health, Safety and the Environment
Understand and follow quality procedures to meet the requirements of quality standards
Control and monitor a process or plant and equipment, effectively, efficiently and securely, and resolve problems or correct abnormal conditions
Complete documentation relevant to the manufacturing process including relevant calculations
Participate in continuous performance improvement
Develop and apply theoretical knowledge of relevant science and technology required by your job role
Typically 5 GCSEs at grade C or higher, and ideally, grade B in mathematics, English and science, or equivalent and/or relevant experience.
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
On completion of this apprenticeship you will gain the following qualifications:
Engineering Technician Level 3
Additional Costs and Information
On completing The Engineering Techinicians Standard standard, the Apprentice Technician meets the professional standards of the Engineering Council for registration as Engineering Technician (Eng Tech) with the IMechE.
