This course has been specifically developed to be delivered in a training environment using simulated conditions and the tests are based on the learner showing what they can do as an individual through the completion of all the requirements of the qualification.The Diploma Painting and Decorating level 2 is for students who have previously completed a level 1 course in P&D and is the natural progression. This course is also for those completing an NVQ2 in painting & decorating as the two qualifications can be gained together.
What will I learn?
The course is designed to develop your skills and knowledge, enabling you to work in the P&D industry of your chosen area.
Units may include:
Health and Safety and Welfare in Construction and Associated Industries
Knowledge of Technical Information, Quantities and Communication with others.
Knowledge of Construction Technology
Prepare Surfaces for Decoration
Apply Paint Systems by Brush and Roller
Apply Standard Papers to Ceilings and Walls
Produce Specialist Decorative Finishes
Appy water-borne Paint Systems Using High Volume Low Pressure (HVLP) Spray Equipment
Erect and Dismantle Access Equipment and Working Platforms
Diploma Level 1 in Painting and Decorating, Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 1.
You will also be required to pass an entrance test, provide a good reference and a satisfactory interview.
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
Home study would be extremely beneficial in order to achieve your targets.
There are knowledge and understanding questions to be completed for each unit.
There is also a Practical Assignment –Prepare for and paint flush doors and hang wallpaper, that must be successfully completed as well as a City & Guilds online Exam at the end of the course.

Additional Costs and Information
The qualification provides the knowledge, understanding and skills related to the equivalent NVQ Unit. On completion of this diploma, learners may progress into employment or on to one or more of the following:
Level 1 to Level 2 in the same occupation
Level 2 to Level 3 in the same occupation
Level 2 or level 3 to technical supervisors and management qualification
Level 3 Construction Contracting Operations and then on to level 4
Level 3 Site Supervision and then on to Site Management
Level 3 Occupational Work Supervision
The level 2 and Level 3 Diploma support the Apprenticeship Framework in England.
On completion of this diploma, learners may progress into employment in P&D, progression onto an L3 Apprenticeship.
