Course Overview

The Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals qualification based on employer needs and has been designed by employers for learners wishing to gain an apprenticeship within the hair industry.Students wishing to complete these qualifications will be doing so as an employed, apprentice in a real work environment.The Diploma will lead to the achievement of the Hair Professional Apprenticeship Standard alongside the relevant functional skills.

What will I learn?

The Diploma for Hair Professionals covers
all of the core knowledge and skills needed to become a
competent Hairdresser, providing the learner with the
opportunity to develop different skills by choosing from a
selection of optional units. This qualification also includes
an element of End-Point Assessment (EPA) which is
assessed by a City & Guilds Independent End-point

Entry Requirements

Minimum GCSE grade D (or equivalent) in Maths and English.

All applicants will be required to pass initial assessments in Maths, English and ICT, to ensure acceptance onto the apprenticeship programme.

Study, Assessment and Qualifications

The duration of this apprenticeship will take approx.24 months to complete.

You are required to attend college for one day per week during term time and carry out training within your work place. You will carry out mandatory ongoing assessments and will be assessed in the College's Aspire Academy of Hair and Beauty salons for practical assessments. You will also complete online testing throughout the course and an End Point Practical Assessment with an external examiner once all your assessments are complete and you have reached the required Functional skills grade in maths and English.

Additional Costs and Information

You will need a uniform and a kit for this course (discussed at interview)
In cases of financial hardship funds may be available to help with the cost of this.
We also arrange educational activities and competitions as part of the course which may incur an additional cost.
