Course Overview
This is an excellent course for those who are wishing to develop basic trade skills in bricklaying whilst working towards achieving a nationally recognised qualification. This is a hands on enjoyable programme which provides progression from the Level 1 Diploma. It is specifically designed to be delivered in a training environment using simulated conditions.
What will I learn?
Candidates will have to achieve the following units to achieve the Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying: Carry out safe working practices Information, quantities and communicating with others Building methods and construction technology Interpret working drawings to set out masonry structures Thin joint masonry and masonry cladding Build solid walling, isolated and attached piers including projection arms Build cavity walling, forming masonry structures.
Entry Requirements
- Diploma Level 1 in Bricklaying, Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 1.
- You will also be required to pass an entrance test.
- A good reference and a satisfactory interview.
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
Home study would be extremely beneficial in order to achieve your targets. You will be assessed by carrying out four practical tasks when you and your assessor agree you are ready. You will also complete an online test at the end of each unit and an end of year online exam. The final qualification will be a Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying.
Additional Costs and Information
You will need to provide safety footwear, overalls and stationery.

On completion of your course you may choose to progress onto these following courses
On completion of this Diploma, learners may progress on to one or more of the following: Level 2 to Level 3 in the same occupation. Level 2 or Level 3 to technical supervisors and management qualification. For example: Level 3 Construction Contracting Operations and then on to Level 4. Level 3 Site Supervision and then on to Site Management. Level 3 Occupational Work Supervision. The level 2 and Level 3 Diploma support the Apprenticeship Framework in England.On completion of this diploma, learners may progress into employment where they will also need to achieve a Skills Award Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Trowel Occupations (Construction) which is assessed on site.
