Course Overview
If you’re working or looking to start work in arboriculture or forestry, this course will give you the key skills for your industry of choice. After taking this course, you’ll meet the necessary legislative requirements to operate under the ‘Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regs 1998’, ‘Approved Code of Practice’ and ‘Guidance Notes GS48’.If you are an employer and require one or more employees to enrol onto this course please contact 0845 345 2235 or BusinessDevelopment@wiltshire.ac.uk
What will I learn?
You will cover the following areas: legislation, risk assessment, health and safety, maintenance (to include guide bar, saw chain and power unit), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safe starting and pre-cutting checks, cross cutting and timber stacking.
Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements associated with this course.
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
Assessment is integrated into the two-day course.
Upon successful completion, you will receive a nationally recognised Certificate of Training and Skills Identity Card issued by LANTRA Awards.
Additional Costs and Information
You will need to bring the following items of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the training and assessment:
Chainsaw protection trousers
Chainsaw protection boots
Chainsaw protection gloves
Chainsaw safety helmet (in date)
These must comply with current BS EN Standards. Please contact us if this is not available to you.
The first assessment is included in the price. Integrated assessments demonstrate the competence of the user; further charges apply if re-assessment is required.
Home study between sessions is recommended.
