This is a 10 week course designed for absolute beginners or for those who know only a few words. It provides the ideal introduction to conversational Italian, covering the basic situations you would encounter as a tourist. It is suitable if you want to learn for fun or if you intend to continue your study. There will also be some reading and writing activities.
What will I learn?
The aim of the course is to provide you with basic speaking and listening skills in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere which will increase your confidence to have a go when you are abroad.
On completion you should be able to:
Understand and participate in simple conversations in everyday situations
Demonstrate confidence in using basic expressions in Italian
Demonstrate some knowledge of the culture of Italian-speaking countries
Feel inspired to continue studying the Italian language and culture
The following topics will be covered during the course:
Greetings and introductions
Talking about yourself and family
Using numbers and understanding prices
Ordering drinks and snacks
Shopping for food
Finding your way around
Visiting the pharmacy/doctor
There are no entry requirements associated with this course.
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken regularly with you by the course tutor.

This course runs on one day per week at the Chippenham Campus and the dates are:
