Course Overview

The course is a progression from our Basic IT Skills for Confidence Programme and is designed to help you gain specific knowledge of the Microsoft 365 office suite.

What will I learn?

You will build your confidence and gain the knowledge different aspects of using software that can also be used on your mobile devices. These topics of understanding are:

Internet and Safety
Understanding the importance of WiFi passwords. Access the Internet, find out about being safe online, find specific websites and search for at least one specific thing. How to use the Internet for shopping and banking as well as be given an overview of social media learners use.

Outlook
Learners will be able access Outlook, open and reply to an email, send a new email, open an attachment and print emails. Creating and updating contacts. Subject line, carbon copy (cc) and blind copy (bcc). Recognising and reporting phishing emails.

Word
Enter and format data. Use different font styles and borders, add and manipulate images. Use text boxes and shapes. Manage files. Create tables, use bullets and numbering. Proofread and correct work. Save to appropriate folders and print work.

Excel
Create spreadsheets, enter content, use formula to add, subtract, divide and multiply. Use Autosum to replicate content and formulas. Resize, delete and insert rows and columns. Format content, centre headings and wrap text. Display data visually using a variety of charts, Sort and filter data. Save to appropriate folders and print work.

Teams
Understanding how to use video calls and other functions within teams. Collaborating and sharing documents. Adding people to a Team.

Study, Assessment and Qualifications

Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes will be undertaken regularly with you by the course tutor. There is no formal qualification or assessment.

Entry Requirements

This course is suitable for those who attended the Basic IT Skills for Confidence Programme or have similar knowledge and would like to improve their skills.

Additional Costs and Information

£200 (Free fundable course to those who meet the eligibility requirements)

Free fundable programme for aged 19+ who are in receipt of benefit or on a low wage income and must have lived in the EU for the last three years. You must currently reside in England. Should you need any additional information before applying please do contact us on busdev@wiltshire.ac.uk .
