Course Overview

If you love arranging colours, materials, patterns, shapes, and textures this is the perfect course for you. Openness to experimentation is necessary, but no prior experience is required. You will be supported in your learning through demonstrations, group/peer discussions, handouts, and one-one-tutorials. You will explore a range of materials and processes for collage and composition. Considering the work of other artists will help you to evaluate your own creations. Do you know how to use assemblage, negative space, papier colle, rule of thirds, and typography? Come along and find out and learn lots of other exciting collage techniques.

What will I learn?

The aim of the course is to equip you with the confidence and knowledge to experiment with a variety of collage processes.

On completion, you should be able to: recognise the collage potential of both two and three-dimensional materials; apply the basic rules of composition in your collages; understand the relevance of evaluating other artists’ work and reviewing your own work.
