FAQs
What is the 150 in 100 campaign?
150 in 100 is a campaign led by Wiltshire College & University Centre to encourage employers to support apprenticeships by making a simple pledge.
The campaign aims to secure 150 apprenticeship pledges in 100 days, helping businesses grow their workforce and address skills gaps across the region.
What does making a pledge mean?
Making a pledge shows your intention to:
Recruit a new apprentice
Upskill an existing employee through an apprenticeship
Or explore apprenticeships as part of your future workforce planning
There is no obligation to recruit immediately. A pledge starts a conversation with our apprenticeships team, who will support you to turn it into action when the time is right.
Do I need to know what apprenticeship I want to offer?
No. Many employers pledge before deciding on a specific programme.
Our team will work with you to understand your business needs and help identify the most suitable apprenticeship option, whether that’s recruiting new talent or developing existing staff.
Are apprentices only for young people?
No. Apprenticeships are available to people of all ages, including existing employees.
They can be used to support new recruits, career changers, or current staff looking to develop new skills or progress within your organisation.
Can I use apprenticeships to upskill existing staff?
Yes. Many employers use apprenticeships to develop the skills of existing employees.
This can support progression, improve retention and help address skills gaps without recruiting externally.
What support will I receive as an employer?
When you take part in 150 in 100, you’ll receive:
Expert advice from our apprenticeships team
Support with programme selection, recruitment and funding
Ongoing guidance throughout the apprenticeship
A dedicated point of contact for your business
We work in partnership with employers to ensure apprenticeships deliver real value.
How much does it cost to take on an apprentice?
The cost depends on factors such as:
Whether you are a levy-paying or non-levy-paying employer
The apprenticeship programme and level
Your organisation’s size
In many cases, training costs are fully or mostly funded. Our team will explain funding options clearly and help you understand any costs involved.
What sectors do you offer apprenticeships in?
We deliver 60+ apprenticeship programmes across a wide range of sectors, including:
-
Engineering and manufacturing
-
Construction and building services
-
Health and social care
-
Business, leadership and management
-
Digital and IT
-
Hospitality and catering
-
Land-based and agricultural industries
Programmes range from entry level through to higher and degree apprenticeships. You can find a full list of sectors and apprenticeship programmes here.
What happens after I make a pledge?
Once you’ve made your pledge:
A member of our apprenticeships team will contact you
We’ll discuss your business needs and timescales
We’ll support you to identify next steps and suitable options
There’s no pressure – the pledge is about starting the journey.
