Student Life at Wiltshire College And University Centre
Wiltshire College and University Centre (WCUC) is dedicated to ensuring students have a positive college experience and recognises that there may be times when support and assistance are needed for academic or personal issues. The College offers a variety of services to support students, including Personal Social Development Tutors, wellbeing advisors, counselling, and safeguarding. For more information on any of these services, please email: safe@wiltshire.ac.uk.
Wellbeing
Your wellbeing is important to us at WCUC and being happy, healthy and safe are all important to help you have a positive college experience. We do understand that you may not always feel this way, and if something does go wrong, we are here to support you.
We Are Ready Programme
The We Are Ready programme is a comprehensive college-wide initiative designed to enhance students’ skills in areas such as employability, safety, and progression.
This programme is integrated across all departments and faculties, ensuring that each student receives individualised support to help them thrive.
Personal Social Development (PSD)
Students will receive one hour of dedicated PSD time per week, focusing on preparing them for their next steps in life.
Careers
Students have access to high-quality information about future study options and labour market trends. The college provides tailored advice and support to meet each student’s needs. The careers programme facilitates the achievement of career goals by organising face-to-face interactions, including university visits (both external and internal), university fairs, apprenticeships and careers fairs, and guest speaker events. For more information, visit our Careers page.
Work Experience and Industry Placements
We support faculties and areas of learning by facilitating students’ work experience and industry placements, ensuring students gain practical experience and valuable insights into their chosen fields.
Enrichment
The Safeguarding and Student Services Team organise a series of events, including fundraising activities, guest speaker sessions, and pop-up events, to promote a safe and respectful culture within the college.
These initiatives raise awareness of important community issues such as substance misuse, sexual exploitation, equality and diversity, online safety, healthy relationships, and the dangers of radicalisation and extremism (Prevent).
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
Equality and Diversity are at the heart of everything we do at the College. We strive to create an environment where everyone can be themselves without fear of discrimination or harassment, and where they are supported to achieve their fullest potential. This commitment extends not only to our staff and students but also to anyone who interacts with the College. For more information, please download our Equality and Diversity policy below.
