Course Overview

Are you interested in learning about printmaking? Would you like to develop your printmaking skills using a range of fascinating techniques? Would you like to take your ideas in a new direction or just welcome an opportunity to create multiple images? If so, then this course might just be for you.

Throughout the course, you will be introduced to a range of basic printmaking techniques and, on completion, you should be able to demonstrate ability in working with a range of printmaking techniques an understanding of the correct use of printmaking equipment and the safe use of them and display a range of finished work.

Please note – slightly different techniques are taught at Salisbury and Trowbridge. Read the ‘what will I learn’ section below for the full details of which techniques are offered at each campus.

The aim of the course is to introduce beginners to basic printmaking techniques and to develop the techniques of those with previous experience.

Salisbury

If you enrol at our Salisbury campus, techniques you will learn include:
– linocut
– collagraph
– letterpress
– monoprinting
– intaglio – drypoint etching
– stencil screenprinting
– blind embossing
This course will teach you how to print onto surfaces such as fabric, paper, card or other prepared surfaces.

Trowbridge

For those enrolling onto the course at Trowbridge, the techniques you can expect to learn include:
– lino
– collagraph
– monoprinting
– intaglio (drypoint and etching)
– screenprinting (stencils and etching)
– screenprinting (photostencil)
More experienced students may be able to undertake the more advanced processes such as photographic printmaking). This course will teach you how to print onto surfaces such as vinyl, paper, card or other prepared surfaces – it is not a textile printing course.
There are no entry requirements associated with this course.
Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken regularly with you by the course lecturer. There are no final qualifications associated with this course.
You should wear old clothes for this course as it can get messy!

Specialist materials can be purchased through the lecturer at a separate charge, subject to availability.

Salisbury:
This course will run on one evening per week at our Salisbury campus:
28.04.26 – 07.07.26 Tuesdays at 17:30-20:30

Trowbridge:
This course takes place on one day per week at the Trowbridge campus the dates are:
30.04.26 – 09.07.26, Thursdays at 17:30-20:30
