Course Overview

The T Level in Digital Support Services is an exciting new 2-year programme developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares you for work. This programme is the equivalent of 3 A Levels and mixes classroom learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience in an industrial placement for a minimum of 315 hours. The course includes the digital infrastructure occupational specialism developing your knowledge and skills to work as an infrastructure technician with expertise in cyber security and the provision of IT infrastructure for business environments.

More information

The programme consists of a technical qualification including core content and an occupational specialism, alongside a high-quality industry placement.

The core content focuses on knowledge and understanding of business contexts and environments, data and storage, digital analysis and computational thinking, and digital environments, including hardware and software solutions, networks, and virtual infrastructure. You will gain the knowledge and skills to successfully plan, implement, and test infrastructure projects which will support you in completion of the course assessments.

The digital infrastructure occupational specialism covers the application of procedures and controls to maintain the digital security of an organisation and its data, and the installation, configuration, testing and management of both physical and virtual infrastructures. You will learn through classroom and practical lab-based activity about the principles of network and infrastructure design, the transmission of digital information over network media, network cabling, physical and cloud hosted virtual servers, operating systems and services, remote access, VPNs, and IT Service management. The course content is reinforced by application in the workplace, ensuring learning is made relevant to the business context.
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English Language, Maths and Science, or equivalent.

A successful interview.

T Level programmes follow GCSEs and are a qualification for students aged 16-18 at the start of the course. Our T Levels are not available to adults at this time.
The NCFE T Level in Digital Support Services core content is assessed through examinations and a substantial practical employer-set project as follows:

Core Component 1 Exam – Business Context, Diversity and Inclusion, Digital Environments, Learning and Planning
Core Component 2 Exam – Digital Support Services, Tools, Testing, Security, Legislation, Data and Digital Analysis

The occupational specialism is assessed synoptically through rigorous practical assessments as follows:

Occupational Specialism – Synoptic Assignment 3 – Evaluation
You may be expected to join in course trips to other organisations and exhibitions as required, and this may involve some costs towards travel and entry fees.
