Course Overview

The Level 4 Certificate for the Early Years Advanced Practitioner has been designed to support early years workers who hold a Level 3 early years or childcare qualification. The qualification provides an opportunity to build on your knowledge and understanding of early years practice, and develop skills that will promote quality, encourage leadership, prepare you for management responsibilities and allow for growth in coaching and mentoring others.

This course will help you embracing the wealth of experience of the Level 3 early years workforce and challenge you in both your daily practice and theoretical understanding.

More information

This course contains 5 mandatory units

– Enabling children to learn
– Promoting health and well-being through the physical activity and nutrition co-ordination (PANCo)
– Working with others to support children with additional needs (including Special Educational Needs and Disability)
– Working with families and other professionals in early years settings
– Implementing change in an early years setting incorporating a small-scale research project.

Within the research project, you will be introduced to research and the role of ethics when undertaking it. The theme you select will allow you to reflect on practice and use current research to produce recommendations for improvements to your own work setting, you will be implementing these recommendations and summarising your findings.
You must be employed in an Early Years setting at Level 3 to complete this qualification.

Before you enrol you will be asked to complete an Initial Assessment. This helps us to see how well you can study on your own and manage your time to meet deadlines. It also checks your English writing, like constructing full sentences, writing in paragraphs, giving clear answers and your understanding of referencing.

If we feel you need more practice, we can show you other courses to help you get ready.

This is a higher-level qualification, and you will need to engage in higher level research and thinking as well as referencing the sources of information you use in each assignment.

You should inform your manager that you are enrolling on this course and confirm with them that your assessor will be able to visit to observe. You will not be able to complete the qualification without direct observation by your assessor.

You will need a valid DBS certificate to work in an early years setting.

All units are assessed by a designated assessor using a range of methods, including direct observations in the workplace, written assignments and a research project.
There is no college attendance for this course. Learning will take place in your own time, so you should be able to study independently using the Internet.

Your assessor will be available to support you via email, phone and Teams, they will provide you with resources to support your learning, mark your work and give you feedback.

Learners will use an e-portfolio for the duration of their course. Access to a lap-top, computer or other device with Internet, camera and audio is required. Learners will not be able to complete this course on a phone or small tablet.

There are 5 units to complete across the 12-month duration of the course. If you are term-time only you will need to study and submit work during school holidays to keep on track with your course.
The cost of this course is £811. It can be funded by a Learner Loan or by payment in full or in instalments.
You can enrol on this course at any time during the academic year.

Once enrolled, there is a £130 withdrawal fee for the following:
