What will I learn?
You will spend two days a week at external equine providers, where you will have theory, practical and riding sessions. You’ll start building your confidence in your riding and in the skills needed for daily work in a variety of equine roles, from tacking to grooming. This learning will be underpinned by an introduction to the anatomy, physiology and nutrition, giving you the key to take your studies further.
Entry Requirements
• 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English, maths and science (or equivalent).
• An interview, if required.
• You’ll be able to demonstrate a positive and responsible attitude towards working with animals.

Study, Assessment and Qualifications
The final qualification will be a City & Guilds Level 2 Technical Certificate in Horse Care.
You will be assessed through written, practical and industry-based assessments.
The course provides opportunities for you to study during your time-tabled week, however, to support your learning experience and to achieve higher grades, you will be expected to work in your own time.

Additional Costs and Information
Please be aware there is a weight limit of 14 stone for riding.
Enrichment activities such as trips and visits to shows and other related events are an important aspect of the programme. You will be expected to contribute to the cost of these activities, which is £150, via the College shop. Please note that this cost is non-refundable.
You will also need to purchase your own personal protective equipment such as hats, boots and body protectors.
