Course Overview

Do you love solving problems and taking on challenges? This course could lead you to an exciting and fulfilling career linked to the Criminology and Law sectors. A wide range of activities will help you develop the skills and qualities essential for your career, such as teamwork, communication, problem solving and research skills. You’ll build your understanding of Criminology and Law, looking in detail at some key aspects of how society looks at these issues . Throughout this Level 2 qualification, you’ll build an understanding of the sector and investigate your career opportunities. By the end of the course, you’ll feel prepared to study further and or look at jobs within the sector.

The course will include units in:

– The Role and Work of the Public Services
– Working Skills in the Public Services Sector
– Citizenship, Society and the Public Services
– Law and it’s Impact on the Individual
– Employment in the Public Services
– Promotion of Public Services Provision
– Employability Skills in the Public Services
– Carrying out a Project in the Public Services
4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, including English and Maths, or equivalent.
You will be continually assessed through a combination of written assignments and external assessments and will be required to do some directed self-study outside of classroom hours. You’ll put together a portfolio of work and you’ll also be assessed on your attendance, punctuality and physical fitness. The qualification is a BTEC Extended Certificate in Public Services and you will receive an overall grade of either pass, merit or distinction.
There are no additional costs on this course. However, you may have the opportunity to go on course trips to external organisations which might incur some costs for travel and entry fees.
