If you’re interested in a career in electrical installation, this course is the perfect starting point. It will give you a broad understanding of the electrical industries and covers topics such as science for electricians, health and safety (including accident prevention), wiring, circuits, cabling, inspecting and testing, and customer service skills. The course consists of an equal combination of theory and practical sessions. You will learn in a specialist construction training environment using industry-standard equipment and be taught by tutors with extensive experience in the trade.

What will I learn?
You will learn the basic skills required to work as an electrician including:
• Electrical cable installation
• Bending conduit pipes (used as protection for cables)
• Fitting a range of socket and switch outlets to a variety of materials
• Lighting and power circuits
You will study the following units:
• Health and safety in building services engineering
• Principals of electrical science
• Electrical installations technology
• Installation of wiring systems and enclosures
• Understanding how to communicate with others within building services engineering

Study, Assessment and Qualifications
You will be assessed on five units through a combination of assignments and online multi-choice exams. You may be required to undertake some study at home to prepare for the theory phase tests.
Additional Costs and Information
You will need to supply your own protective (steel toe-capped) footwear and protective overalls. You will be asked to buy some relevant books and tools to support your learning, and will also need to provide your own writing materials and a scientific calculator.
