Course Overview

The early years and education sector is varied and highly rewarding. If you want to work with children in a setting that encourages play, learning and development such as a classroom or nursery, this course is for you! With years of experience working in the sector, your lecturers are subject specialists who will prepare you to apply theory about early childhood development to your own practice. You’ll build your knowledge and confidence in early years subjects, taking your skills to the next level and preparing you to progress onto further study or work. At the end of the course, you could move towards becoming a qualified early years educator, or an apprentice in an early years setting.

More information

You’ll gain a broad knowledge and understanding of childcare and the principles of early years practice, developing skills relevant for a wide variety of roles in the early years sector. For example, you’ll explore and learn about using children’s play to promote their development. You’ll cover the importance of promoting positive behaviour and language and literacy in early years, honing specific skills in these areas which you’ll demonstrate while on your placement.
