Course Overview

The construction industry is one of the largest and broadest to work in, employing around 7% of the UKs workforce, and there is always a demand for skilled professionals.
An apprenticeship in construction is a form of vocational training where you will follow an NOCN approved standard to develop skills and knowledge and then demonstrate and evidence your application in a construction environment.
Site Carpenters need to have a good eye for detail, as well as strong maths skills and the ability to follow instructions and technical drawings.

The duration of an apprenticeship in Bench Joinery will take up to 24 months to complete and you will be required to attend college for 1 day per week during term time over two years. At the end of the 2 years you will be required to complete an end point assessment or EPA which will test your knowledge and skills and will be assessed by an independent external assessor which can take up to 3 months past your expected end date
The Competence element will be assessed in the workplace using evidence to build a portfolio. The knowledge element of the Bench Joinery is delivered at our Chippenham campus. The EPA will be taken at our Chippenham campus.
If required, Functional Skills will also be delivered as part of the apprenticeship programme. A mixture of on and off the job training provides a variety of learning opportunities across the whole programme.
