What will I learn?
Working and learning in the horticulture and landscape industries is rewarding, offers a diverse range of employment opportunities and includes a range of skills that are transferrable into many other industries. This course will give you key skills as a worker, such as communication and customer care, teamwork and environmental skills, as well as industry-specific skills. The apprenticeship offers two pathways, giving you the opportunity to tailor your learning to your interests. The horticulture option focuses on plant propagation and growth, while landscaping focuses on the installation of features and structures. You’ll learn how to operate a wide range of tools, equipment and machinery, practise planting, plant growth, development and identification, soil cultivation and site presentation.
Entry Requirements
Minimum Entry Level 3 or GCSE grade 2 in Maths and English.
All applicants will be required to pass initial assessments in Maths and English.
A Level 1 or another Level 2 qualification in Horticulture or other Land-based related subjects could be an advantage.
You need to be 16 years old or over to take this qualification.

Study, Assessment and Qualifications
Full time apprentices will typically spend 12 months on-programme working towards the occupational standard, with a minimum of 20% off-the-job training.
You will take an End Point Assessment (EPA)? once your employer is satisfied that you is consistently working at or above the level set out in the occupational standard.
Assessment is by written, practical and industry-based assignments.

Additional Costs and Information
An Intermediate apprenticeship in?Horticulture and Landscape Operatives will usually take 12 months to complete.
You will attend college for one day per week during term time as part of your training.
To assist you during your apprenticeship, you may be required to purchase some equipment and resources.
