Extreme weather update

Extreme weather update

Last updated 12:30pm.

The UK Health Security Agency and the Met Office have issued a Red Extreme Heat Warning for our area covering Wednesday 24 June and Thursday 25 June, meaning the hot weather could affect the health and wellbeing of everyone.

To minimise the impact on staff and students whilst the Red Extreme Heat Warning is in place we will be moving teaching and learning online.

Students will be advised to check their college email and Microsoft Teams regularly for updates from course tutors and information about any online lessons or activities.

Safeguarding arrangements will remain in place during this period.

If you have an exam, assessment or practical assessment, this will go ahead as planned unless we contact you to make alternative arrangements.

We currently expect all campuses to resume normal operations on Friday 26 June.

Please take extra care during the hot weather by:

  • drinking plenty of water
  • staying out of direct sunlight where possible
  • wearing suitable clothing and sunscreen when outdoors
  • looking out for signs of heat exhaustion or heatstroke in yourself and others

Further advice on staying safe in hot weather is available on the NHS website.
