Did you know you’re a graduand until you officially cross that ceremonial stage? That’s when you move the tassle from one side of the cap to the other.
It’s not long to go now until you’ll be celebrating becoming a graduate with your friends and family.
It’s a special occasion for all – a day to recognise your dedication and achievements, and we’re proud to celebrate with you.
Graduation isn’t far away so here’s everything you need to know before the day.
Calling all graduands, this one’s for you!

Your Salisbury Playhouse debut (9-10am)
Head over to the Playhouse between 9-10am, check in at the front desk and collect your wristband – you’ll need to wear this for entrance to the cathedral.
Know where you’re going? Malthouse Lane, Salisbury SP2 7RA.

Time to robe up!
Head upstairs to have your robe and cap fitted – you’ll look like an official graduate in no time.
Ever wondered why graduation hoods come in different colours?
Have you ever thought about why graduation hoods come in different colours? The trim represents your course, while the overall colour shows off your degree level.
Note: there’s a one-way system on this floor.

Poses at the ready
Descend the central staircase like a true main character.
If you’ve booked formal photography or a group photo package, now’s the time to head to the photography stations to capture those special moments.
Remember: your guests will need to arrive in plenty of time to register at the cathedral before 11am.

Time to wow the locals (10:30)
Get lined up for the procession to Salisbury Cathedral – only a few universities in the country send their graduands through the streets, and we’re proud to be one of them.
Worried it might rain? Don’t worry – staff will be standing by with waterproof ponchos at the ready to keep you dry and looking your best.
Timings: We’ll start walking at 10:45 and we’ll lead the way.

Arrive in style (11am)
Game faces on – the ceremony is about to begin.
Stay in your spot in line and get ready for your grand entrance – your guests will be waiting inside.

Your main character moment (11:30-12:30)
Enjoy the inspiring words of our speakers, including our Deputy Principal Jo Grenfell, Principal Iain Hatt, and this year’s guest speaker Paddy Bradley MBE.
You’ll be called up when it’s your course’s turn to cross the stage, shake hands and pose for your photo moment.
Embrace it – it’ll be over in a flash.

We’re not crying, you’re crying
The ceremony is over, but the celebrations continue! It’s time to throw those hats in the air and capture the moment for your socials.
We’ll exit the cathedral (via the west entrance) where you can meet your friends and family to celebrate.
Don’t forget: before you leave return your cap and gown inside the cathedral.
Now for the guests!
We know that graduation is just as special for friends and family as it is for our graduands.
Here’s what to remember to make sure you don’t miss a thing.
Photography at the Playhouse
If you’re featuring in a group photo package, this is your first stop.
Be sure to head over to the cathedral between 10-11am before the registration window closes. Don’t worry – college staff will be on hand to guide you amongst all the excitement.
Guest registration at the Cathedral
Arrive at the cathedral (north entrance) before 11am to check in and collect your wristband (keep this on at all times – it’s your key to the cathedral).
The doors officially close at 11:15am ready for the ceremony.
Once seated, enjoy the event and later follow the stage party and new graduates outside for more photos!
A heads up – photography and videography notice.
You won’t be the only one taking photos on the day – our social media team will be present throughout the day to capture the best moments, the smiles and maybe even ask you a few fun questions.
Follow us on Instagram and Facebook to see if you and your friends make it to the grid.
Professional photographers will also be on hand capturing proud moments throughout the day.
It might feel like a lot of paparazzi, but you’ll be thankful when you look back on your graduation memories.
The official photo gallery will go live on the College website after the event, and you’ll also receive an email with a link – so keep an eye on your inbox.
