Meet our graduate: Molly Holland, Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice graduand Molly Holland reflects on her journey through higher education at Wiltshire College & University Centre (WCUC) – a path built on curiosity, commitment and the desire to make a difference.

The 19-year-old from Melksham started her course in 2023 and is now graduating with a distinction in the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Crime and Criminal Justice (Public Services).

We hear from Molly about what inspired her to study the justice system, her proudest achievements and how WCUC helped her take the next step in her studies.

WCUC: What made you choose to study Criminal Justice at WCUC?

Molly: “I’ve always been interested in how the justice system works. Crime documentaries and shows inspired me to learn more about how public sectors carry out their roles. I chose to study the HND at WCUC for its convenient location and the continued support from my course leader, Tracy Mitchell. After studying Criminology at Level 3, I knew I wanted to expand my knowledge further.”

WCUC: What did you enjoy most about the course?

Molly: “Definitely the people! There was a mix of personalities and ages, and everyone shared similar aspirations. That sense of belonging made it easy to engage and share opinions in class. The trip to Poland earlier this year was unforgettable – seeing Auschwitz first-hand was such an important and eye-opening experience.”

WCUC: What’s your proudest moment from your time at the College?

Molly: “Being awarded Higher National Diploma Student of the Year in 2024 was such an honour. It proved that with hard work and determination, anything is possible. Achieving a distinction overall across both years of my HND is something I’m incredibly proud of too.”

WCUC: How did the HND prepare you for your next steps?

Molly: “It’s given me the confidence and skills to progress to Level 6 at Bath Spa University. The content I studied at WCUC fits perfectly with what I’ll be learning next year, and I feel much more confident engaging in groups and sharing my opinions.”

WCUC: What are your long-term goals?

Molly: “My goal is to make a difference and help people who need it most. I’m passionate about working within the police – whether that’s on the frontline or behind the scenes. I just want to know that what I do helps others.”

WCUC: What advice would you give to someone thinking about studying Criminal Justice?

Molly: “Don’t be afraid to get things wrong or think differently. Everyone brings their own perspective, and that’s what makes studying this subject so engaging. If you want to make a difference or help people, I highly recommend this course.”

WCUC: What does graduating mean to you personally?

Molly: “Graduation symbolises years of hard work, long days, and moments of doubt that led to growth, friendship and pride. It’s proof that you can achieve anything you set your mind to.”

Molly will officially graduate at Salisbury Cathedral this week, joining fellow students from across Wiltshire College & University Centre to celebrate their achievements and look ahead to the next chapter.
