If you have always wanted to work with agricultural machinery such as tractors, combines and harvesters, Lackham – our specialist campus for land based study courses set in 500 acres of Wiltshire countryside – is the place to be.
Our Land Based Engineering courses are for students looking to work on or with industry-relevant machinery and equipment. Students will gain hands-on experience and be provided with the skills to follow multiple career paths and opportunities.
One of UK’s biggest industries, agriculture and its technology are constantly moving forward.
Students on these courses benefit from purpose-built welding and fabrication workshops, machinery diagnostic equipment and have the opportunity to work with a wide range of tractors and other land based machinery.
You will also develop machinery and cultivation skills, and take part in ploughing, tillage, sowing and spreading amongst other farm duties at Lackham. These skills and responsibilities will prepare them for entry into a wide range of roles in the agriculture or engineering industries.
The department’s strong links with industry will help you gain work experience and build a solid foundation for your career in land based engineering and farm mechanisation.
Previous students have progressed on to successful roles in the industry or further study.
