Course Overview

Learning a language can be a very rewarding and enjoyable experience, whether you would like to continue studying for pleasure, travel, business, or simply to meet like-minded people. Come and join our evening class which is taught in a friendly, relaxed and adult orientated manner. This 10 week course is the first of a two part course, giving you the opportunity to progress even further should you wish.

The emphasis will be primarily on consolidating previous knowledge and extending vocabulary, structures and fluency. Listening, speaking, reading and writing activities are designed to maximise your confidence and progress.

The course will concentrate on the four language skills with particular focus on the speaking and listening Learners will be encouraged to express themselves and give opinions in Italian. The course will include a revision and extension of basic structures and progress to achieve the use of the past perfect.

The topics covered will include:
– Hobbies
– Shops/shopping
– My family
– Physical and personality descriptions
– Daily routine
– Talking about the past
This course is suitable for adult learners who have completed the Italian – Beginners Parts 1 and 2 at Wiltshire College & University Centre or at a similar establishment. It is also suitable for those who have previous knowledge of the language and who feel can cope with the vocabulary of the topics and have confidence in using their language skills.
Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken regularly with you by the course lecturer. There are no final qualifications associated with this course.
You will be asked to buy a course book, this will be discussed in your first session.

Please also bring an A4 folder, paper and pens.

To get maximum benefit from the course learners should expect to do up to an hour at home each week to reinforce the work covered in class. Your lecturer will advise you on what work to do at home.

This course runs on one day per week at the Chippenham Campus and the dates are:
