College celebrates Sustainable Business of the Year win

Wiltshire College & University Centre is celebrating after being named Sustainable Business of the Year at the 2026 TBE Awards, recognising its commitment to creating a greener future for students, businesses and the wider community.

The award was presented at Komedia Bath on Thursday 5 November, where more than 200 business leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals came together to celebrate achievements from across Bath, Wiltshire and Swindon.

Organised by The Business Exchange South West, the awards recognise businesses, organisations and individuals making a positive difference across the region.

The College was also shortlisted for Leader of the Year, with Principal & CEO Iain Hatt recognised for his leadership and contribution to the College’s growth and development.

Making a difference for a sustainable future

The Sustainable Business of the Year award celebrates the hard work and dedication of colleagues across the College who are helping to make sustainability part of everyday life.

Over recent years, the College has made significant progress in reducing its environmental impact, investing in greener facilities and creating opportunities for students to get involved in projects that protect and enhance the natural environment.

But its commitment doesn’t stop at its own campuses. Through education, training and facilities such as the Green Skills Innovation Centre at Lackham, the College is also helping students, employers and local communities develop the skills and knowledge needed to build a more sustainable future.

Iain Hatt, Principal & CEO, said: “We’re delighted to receive this award. Sustainability is a priority for the College, and it’s encouraging to see the progress we’re making recognised at a regional level.

“We want to make meaningful changes to the way we operate, but we also have an important role in helping people and businesses develop the skills needed for a lower-carbon future. This award reflects the commitment of colleagues and students across the College who are making that happen.”

A night of celebration

Representing the College at the ceremony were Iain Hatt, Deputy Principal Curriculum & Quality Jo Grenfell, Executive Director of Growth and Engagement David West and Chair of Governors Paddy Bradley MBE.

The evening brought together businesses and organisations from across the region to celebrate their achievements, while also raising funds for BBC Children in Need.

The award is a fantastic recognition of the College’s ongoing sustainability work and the collective effort of everyone involved, with plenty more to look forward to as it continues working towards a greener future.
