The construction industry is one of the largest and broadest to work in, employing around 7% of the UK’s workforce, and there is always a demand for skilled professionals. An apprenticeship in construction is a form of vocational training where you will follow an NOCN approved standard to develop skills and knowledge and then demonstrate and evidence your application in a construction environment.

What will I learn?
This course prepares learners for work within the construction and built environment sector, where a wide range of properties—including housing, healthcare, social care, hospitality, education, commercial, leisure, retail, and both public and private buildings—require ongoing maintenance to remain safe, functional, and efficient.
The primary purpose of the role is to carry out day-to-day property maintenance to ensure buildings are kept in a good state of repair. Learners will develop the skills to complete routine maintenance activities, as well as minor planned and responsive repairs, using a broad foundation of trade skills. These include carpentry and joinery, plumbing, plastering, brick and block work, external works, and finishing trades such as tiling, painting, and decorating.
The course also focuses on the safe and effective use of a wide range of hand and power tools, materials, components, fixtures, and fittings. Emphasis is placed on working in compliance with health and safety requirements and current building safety legislation.
