This qualification is an introduction to the knowledge and understanding needed to work in a school or college environment. It can apply to the many varied roles that full and part-time support staff may fulfil including administrative roles, site support roles, technical roles and volunteers, as well as roles that work directly with children and young people in the learning environment. The qualification is aimed at a range of learners, including young people, mature learners, learners with special educational needs or where English is an additional language, who are thinking of working in a school or college setting.

Progression from this course is on to the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning, which is a teaching assistant course and to enrol you will need to be either working or volunteering in a school or college.

Entry Requirements
Before you enrol you will be asked to complete an Initial Assessment. This helps us to see how well you can study on your own and manage your time to meet deadlines. It also checks your English writing, like constructing full sentences, writing in paragraphs and giving clear answers.

There is no college attendance for this course. Learning will take place in your own time, so you should be able to study independently using the Internet.
Your assessor will be available to support you via email, phone and Teams, they will provide you with resources to support your learning, mark your work and give you feedback.
Learners will use an e-portfolio for the duration of their course. Access to a lap-top, computer or other device with Internet, camera and audio is required. Learners will not be able to complete this course on a phone or small tablet.
There are 6 units to complete across the 6-month duration of the course, one per month.

Additional Costs and Information
This course is free for learners that meet certain criteria which will be assessed as part of the enrolment process. If you are not eligible for funding for this course, the cost is £270.
You can enrol on this course at any time during the academic year.
Once enrolled, there is a £130 withdrawal fee for the following:
– Learners do not submit their first unit by the deadline given.
– Learners do not complete their course in the 6-month allocated time.
– Learners request to withdraw.
