Course Overview

This 3 week, (one study day per week), face to face qualification aims to develop the knowledge and skills required when providing positive care for people with dementia and their families. The Level 2 Award provides an awareness of the causes and symptoms of dementia. This qualification is aligned to the National Dementia Strategy.

Suitable for anyone who wants to work in social care in either local authority or private care environments. It is also suitable for qualified practitioners who have not covered dementia care in previous qualifications.

This course will cover the following units:

• Understand Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Dementia Care
• The Person Centred Approach to the Care and Support of Individuals With Dementia
• Dementia Awareness
• Understand the Factors That Can Influence Communication and Interaction With Individuals Who Have Dementia
This award requires 8 credits.
It will be assessed by your Tutor or Assessor using a range of methods. This could include direct observation, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task.
