Develop your creative and professional photography skills with this A-Level equivalent qualification, run at our Trowbridge and Salisbury campuses. You’ll have access to well-equipped darkroom facilities and specialist traditional and digital photography equipment to develop your skills and processes. The course will develop your skills as a creative practitioner. You should be curious about the world and have a reflective, creative approach to your work. You’ll learn by constantly trying out new ideas and solutions, create independent work and develop a deep knowledge and confidence in your chosen subject area. This course is one of the specialist pathways on our Level 3 course in Art, Design and Communication: Creative Practice. After the course, you’ll be in a position to apply for a photography degree or to enter the creative industries in a junior role.

What will I learn?
The course concentrates on your individual creative process. You’ll develop your unique responses through research, building your skills, generating new ideas and producing work. The emphasis will be on developing your individual interests and creative ability in photography.
This course aims to challenge you through exciting briefs and live project opportunities. Your practical sessions will be complemented by supporting theory to extend your knowledge about and understanding of the contemporary creative industries. You’ll be taught by experienced and dedicated lecturers who are creative practitioners themselves with relevant professional experience, and you’ll be supported by technicians working in industry standard studios and workshops.

Resource Fee
You will need to pay your £25 non-refundable Resource Fee before coming to enrol. This can be done on the online shop Wiltshire College Online Shop You will need to bring a copy of your receipt to enrolment as proof of purchase. If you cannot pay online, please pay by card on enrolment day.
Stationery
All students are required to provide their own personal stationery to include pads, pens and pencils, poly pockets and folders ready for the start of term. Course tutors will advise of any specific requirements at the start of term.
Equipment
All students will need to pay a Creative materials fee of £200 each year through the Wiltshire college online shop Wiltshire College Online Shop in the first week of term.
This will cover costs for sketchbooks, an art pack, presentation events and study visits. It also provides a contribution towards art materials and media and will ensure you have access to the following consumables:
– Art studio: paints, brushes, charcoal, conte crayon, pencil, ink, papers, canvas.
– Print workshop: Specialist printing ink, assorted paper stocks.
– Photographic workshop: Photographic paper.
– 3D workshop: plaster, wood, metal, glass, plastic and acrylic.
– Fashion & Textiles: Basic fabrics, dyes, pattern paper and sewing thread.
– Vis Com Studio: Large format printer inks and paper.
A1 Black Portfolios and additional materials and sketchbooks are available to buy at cost price from the online shop.
We recommend that if your place is conditional in achieving exam results that you do not purchase items until your place is confirmed.
