Course Overview

This course provides a practical introduction to the sector, helping learners develop key skills for further study and training. Through a range of units, you will explore topics such as health, wellbeing and care practice, while also building transferable skills in communication, teamwork and problem-solving. These graded qualifications are designed for learners aged pre-16 to 19+, offering progression to Level 2 BTECs, apprenticeships or other study programmes. They are delivered alongside English and maths to support progression into education and future pathways.

On this course you will gain an introduction to the Health and Social Care sector while developing important transferable skills for future study and work. You will learn about health and wellbeing, caring for individuals, and the responsibilities of working in a supportive role. Alongside this, you will build skills in communication, organisation, teamwork and problem-solving. The course will also support your English and maths development, preparing you to progress onto Level 2 BTECs, apprenticeships or other related study programmes.
4 GCSEs at Grade 2 or above, including English and Maths, or equivalent.


A successful interview.
You will study a range of units that introduce the Health and Social Care sector. Topics include health and wellbeing, caring for individuals, communication skills, teamwork, and understanding how to support people in different settings. You will also develop transferable skills such as problem-solving, organisation, and research.

Assessment is through coursework and practical tasks. You will complete assignments and activities that allow you to demonstrate your knowledge and skills. Each unit is graded to show your progress and achievements.

All pathways are designed to prepare you for further study, apprenticeships, or training in Health and Social Care.
