What will I learn?
You’ll learn basic skills in both carpentry and joinery, involving the safe use of hand and portable power tools. You will study a range of topics including:

Entry Requirements
Entry requirements are 4 GCSEs of which Maths and English must be grade 2 or above or equivalent.
A good reference and satisfactory interview is also required.

Study, Assessment and Qualifications
You will be assessed through continuous practical assessment and end-of-unit multiple choice theory tests. At the end of the course you will take an online theory test, together with a practical skills test. You will also study Functional Skills in maths and English as part of your programme.
You may be required to complete theory tasks as homework. A high level of attendance is mandatory and you will be expected to catch up with theory work in your own time following an absence.

Additional Costs and Information
You will be expected to buy approved safety work boots, which must be worn for all workshop activities. You will also need to supply your own basic carpentry tool kit, which we will discuss with you in your first session.
