What will I learn?
You will build your confidence and gain the knowledge different aspects of using software that can also be used on your mobile devices. These topics of understanding are:
Internet and Safety
Understand why strong Wi-Fi and online account passwords are important. Recognise common online scams, suspicious emails and unsafe websites. Learn how to use online banking safely. Understand privacy and security settings on social media. Learn good habits for staying safe when using the internet.
Outlook
Create, reply to and forward emails. Add attachments such as documents and pictures. Understand the To, Cc and Bcc recipient options. Organise emails into folders and manage your inbox. Create an automatic Out of Office reply.
Understand basic email etiquette and safe use of attachments.
Word
Create, save and edit a Word document. Change fonts, font sizes, colours and text styles. Understand different page layouts and orientations. Add and format headers and footers. Insert and resize pictures. Create simple, professional-looking documents such as letters, notices and forms.
Excel
Understand rows, columns and cells. Enter and format information in a simple spreadsheet. Use basic formulas for addition, subtraction and totals. Create a simple home finance/budget spreadsheet. Use basic charts and graphs to display information. Save and update a spreadsheet as your information changes.
Teams
Join and leave a Teams meeting. Use your camera and microphone. Understand how to mute and unmute yourself. Use the chat function during a meeting.
Share your screen or a document. Understand basic Teams features and meeting etiquette.

Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements with this course other than to have attended the Basic IT Skills for Confidence Programme or have a basic understanding and wish to improve your IT skills.
Study, Assessment and Qualifications
Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes will be undertaken regularly with you by the course tutor. There is no formal qualification or assessment.
