Course Overview

This course provides a great introduction to the Motor Industry and will enable students to develop a basic knowledge and understanding of motor vehicles.

More information

This is a practical, hands-on course that allows students to develop basic skills in key areas of Automotive Maintenance and Repair. Lessons will take place in the classroom as well as our fully equipped motor vehicle workshops. You will learn how a modern motor vehicle works and how to diagnose and repair basic problems.

This course will provide you with an introduction to the following areas:
– Workshop Bench Skills
– Cooling
– Exhaust
– Electrical Ignition
– Lubrication
– Braking
– Steering and Suspension
– Wheels and Tyres
– Transmission
Applicants are required to hold a minimum of 2 GCSEs and grade 1 or above, including English and maths.
Students on this course will complete vehicle and workshop based assessments and online exams. Functional skills are assessed by examination. On successful completion of this course, students will achieve an IMI Entry Level 3 Diploma for The Introduction to Motor Vehicle Industry and Technologies (Entry 3).
Students will need overalls and safety boots for this course.
