Course Overview

Our courses are now closed to new entrants for this academic year.  Please do return later in the summer for details of our September 2025 to June 2026 courses and to apply for these, thank you.

Once you have applied, we will send through a Skills Check to gauge your ability and determine a suitable course for you. Once returned to us, we will be in touch to arrange an interview, either face to face or over the phone is this is not possible. Depending on the time of year, it may take up to two weeks to hear back from us, so please do not worry if you do not hear back immediately. We will discuss the campus, the day and time of the sessions and the options available to you.

More information

When you sign up to study GCSE English, we will help you develop your core skills and knowledge at Level 2 in reading, writing, speaking, listening and communication.

We offer the 9 – 1 GCSE English through the AQA Examining Board.
For those wishing to enrol onto the GCSE qualification, you are likely to already have achieved a grade D or 3 at GCSE, or hold a Functional skills Level 2 qualification.

As part of the interview process, all applicants will complete a skills check to gauge their current skills and ability.

Using the results from this and through discussion with you, we will be able to advise you about the course and qualification that is most suitable for you.
You are expected to attend the taught sessions regularly and be encouraged to develop your English communication skills through speaking and listening, reading and writing.

There is a range of e-learning facilities to support your development and there will be an expectation for you to complete work outside the classroom.

Class assessments will be held on a regular basis and these will be designed to develop your skills and fully prepare you for the GCSE final exams.

The grade you receive at the end of your AQA GCSE English Language course is entirely based on your performance in two exam papers.

The provisional GCSE English exam dates for 2025 are:
Friday 23rd May 2025
Friday 6th June 2025
All of these courses are free of charge for applicants who do not have a Grade C or Grade 4 or above at GCSE. If you are not eligible, the course fee is £864.

You will be required to provide your pens, paper and an A4 folder (to be brought to the first lesson)

Please be aware that courses will run subject to meeting a minimum requirement for student numbers.
