Course Overview

This course is designed to help you develop the understanding and some practical experience of the variety of trades in the Construction industry. You will be taught the practical aspects of the course in the College’s industry-standard workshops and technical classrooms. If you do not already have GCSEs in maths and English at grade 4 (C), you will study these subjects as part of your programme, improving your skills and enhancing your employability. The course requires you to spend three days a week at the College.

The qualifications cover a range of hand-skills and practical tasks in the following trade areas:

– Bricklaying
– Carpentry and Joinery
– Painting & Decorating
– Construction Operations
– Applicants to have 4 GCSEs including English and maths at grade 1 or above.
– A satisfactory interview.
You will be assessed through workshop-based practical assignments and knowledge-based questions, as well as taking one online exam. You will use an E-portfolio to complete your formal work and track your progress.

This course is accredited by the City & Guilds examination board. On successful completion of the course, you will achieve an Entry Level 3 for The Introduction to Construction Skills
You will need to supply your own protective clothing (overalls and steel toecap safety boots) and stationery
