Course Overview

The Chef de Partie Level 3 apprenticeship is for learners working in a wide range of hospitality settings across the service and commercial sectors.

A chef de partie is responsible for running a specific section of the kitchen such as fish, grill, vegetable or larder for example. In a large kitchen, this type of chef usually manages a small team of workers, which they must keep organised so that dishes go out on time, teams are managed effectively, and the work area remains clean and orderly.
However, in smaller kitchens a chef de partie may work independently as the only person in their section.
Also known as a station or section chef, the chef de partie reports to the senior chef and has a very important role in any kitchen.

More information

The Level 3 Chef de Partie Apprenticeship is the natural progression route from Level 2 Commis Chef, and will cover the same core units at a more advanced level. These are:

· Culinary
· Food Safety
· Business
· People

Each unit is key to ensuring you are fully skilled and equipped to become a chef de partie. Work-based learning and regular assessments will lead to an independent end point assessment.
You will need maths and English GCSE passes at grade C or above, if not you will need to pass maths and English Functional Skills level 2 during the Apprenticeship.
Progression from this apprenticeship will lead into a senior professional chef role. Roles could include senior chef de partie, junior sous chef or sous chef, dependent on the size of your workplace
