Course Overview

If you’re interested in how art can help your health and wellbeing, this ten week course is the perfect course for you. No experience is necessary, our lecturer caters for everyone, providing a high level of individual attention and support. All you need is an openness to explore art for wellness through a variety of media, materials and processes!

More information

The aim of the course is to enhance your health and wellbeing by exploring a variety of artistic processes. A broad subject range will be covered including, art and emotion, art in nature, autobiographical art, mindfulness, and music and memory.

The following topics will be covered during the course:

Collaging processes: using coloured papers, printed ephemera, tissue paper, and wallpapers to develop autobiographical responses
Drawing processes: using pencils, coloured pencils, charcoal, felt tips, and pastels to develop expressive responses
Painting processes: using acrylics, inks and watercolours to develop mindfulness and memory
Photography processes: using a mobile phone/camera to develop responses to nature
Writing processes: using biros, dip pens, fine liners, and quills to develop emotional responses
There are no entry requirements associated with this course.
Assessment is informal, based on your personal targets and the learning outcomes and will be undertaken regularly with you by the course tutor.
Most equipment and materials will be provided. Please bring to each session an A4 sketchbook, a range of pencils, an eraser and a pencil sharpener/scalpel.

This course will run on one day per week for ten weeks at the Methuen Centre, Corsham:
12.01.27-23.03.27 Tuesdays, 13:00-16:00

To be eligible for the fundable programme, you must be aged 19+ and in receipt of benefit or on a low wage income and must have lived in the UK for the last three years.
