Big Placement Pledge returns to help shape the workforce of tomorrow

WILTSHIRE College & University Centre is calling on employers across the region to help shape the workforce of tomorrow as its Big Placement Pledge returns for a second year.

The 13-week campaign encourages businesses of all sizes to offer industry placements to T Level students, giving young people the opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience while helping employers develop future talent.

Throughout the campaign, the College will showcase the positive impact of T Level placements through employer stories, student experiences and behind-the-scenes insight into businesses across Wiltshire. Employers will also have the opportunity to take part in a series of events, including breakfast networking sessions, campus tours, webinars and question-and-answer sessions designed to make it easier to get involved.

Ann Simpson, Work Placement Team Leader at Wiltshire College & University Centre, said:
“The success of last year’s Big Placement Pledge showed just how much employers value investing in future talent. Industry placements are at the heart of T Levels, giving students the opportunity to develop real workplace skills, build confidence and gain experience that simply can’t be replicated in the classroom.

“At the same time, employers benefit from enthusiastic young people who bring fresh ideas, new perspectives and a genuine willingness to learn. Whether you’re a small business or a large organisation, hosting a T Level student is a fantastic opportunity to support the next generation while helping to build your future workforce.”

Over the next 13 weeks, the campaign will explore every stage of the T Level journey, from busting common myths about industry placements and helping employers become placement ready, to meeting current students, showcasing employer success stories and celebrating the organisations making a real difference.

A dedicated Open Doors week will also give businesses the chance to visit College campuses, meet the team behind T Levels and discover first-hand how industry placements work.

Every T Level includes a minimum of 315 hours of industry placement, enabling students to apply their learning in a real workplace while developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours employers are looking for.

Last year, Wiltshire College & University Centre celebrated a 100% T Level pass rate, reflecting the strength of the programme and the invaluable support of employers who provide industry placements. With more students choosing T Levels for the year ahead, the College is inviting even more businesses to get involved.
