STUDENTS, staff and visitors can now enjoy safer, easier journeys around Lackham campus following the completion of a major road improvement project.

The project has transformed the main entrance to the campus, with a newly resurfaced drive, clearer road markings and dedicated pedestrian crossings helping to improve the flow of traffic and create safer routes for both vehicles and pedestrians.

As a busy campus, Lackham welcomes a wide range of vehicles each day, from cars and delivery vehicles to agricultural machinery and commercial traffic. The improvements have been carefully designed to help everyone move safely around the site while supporting the day-to-day running of the campus.

Marcus Gill, Estates Manager at Lackham campus, said: “This has been a significant project and we’re delighted to see it completed. The new surface and road markings not only improve the appearance of the campus but, more importantly, help us manage the movement of vehicles and pedestrians more safely.

“Lackham is a unique working campus with students, staff, visitors, farm vehicles, machinery and commercial traffic all moving around the site. These improvements will help make journeys around campus clearer, safer and more efficient for everyone.”

The road improvements formed part of a wider programme of estate investment at Lackham, which also included pothole repairs and resurfacing work in other key operational areas across the campus. The work was delivered by specialist contractors working alongside the College’s Estates Team, with careful planning helping to minimise disruption while maintaining access to facilities throughout the project.

Lily Raynor-Blundell, Executive Director for Lackham, said: “The Lackham campus is a special place to learn, work and visit, and it is important that our facilities reflect the high-quality experience we want to provide for students.

“These improvements make a real difference to the day-to-day running of the campus and support our commitment to providing a safe, welcoming and professional environment for everyone who studies, works and visits here. We are grateful to the Estates Team and contractors who have worked hard to deliver the project and look forward to continuing to invest in the campus.”

The latest improvements are part of Wiltshire College & University Centre’s continued investment in its campuses, ensuring students benefit from high-quality facilities that support learning, training and everyday campus life.
