Hundreds of students from Wiltshire College & University Centre will showcase their creative work this summer as part of a series of end of year exhibitions and performances across the College’s campuses.
More than 600 pieces of work, including art, design, media, film, photography, fashion, textiles and music, will be displayed at exhibitions in Chippenham, Trowbridge and Salisbury.
For many students, the shows mark the end of two years of study and the chance to share their final projects with family, friends and the public.
Owain Milford said: “It’s a real celebration of the students’ journey and their work. It gives them the experience of displaying something they’ve created to an audience, which is such an important part of working in the creative industries.
“These shows are also a chance for students to reflect on how much they’ve developed during their time at College and celebrate the completion of projects they’ve worked incredibly hard on throughout the year.”
This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the Foundation Art and Design course at the Trowbridge campus – a milestone that will be celebrated during the private view evening with former students, industry guests and university partners.
Alongside the upcoming exhibitions, Creative Arts, Media and Performance students have already been showcasing their talents through live productions, performances and industry projects across Wiltshire. Earlier this term, Performing Arts students staged Peer Gynt at Salisbury Arts Centre, while Music students performed live gigs at venues including The Ruze in Chippenham and The Tunnels in Frome.
The College has also celebrated recent student successes through events including fashion showcases, film projects and public exhibitions featuring work inspired by sustainability, identity and contemporary culture.
Owain added: “It’s an incredibly busy but exciting time for students and staff. The end of year shows are always a real highlight because they give students the opportunity to share their creativity, confidence and talent with family, friends and the wider community.”
